Stella Yoo is interested in the urban landscape in order to explore the transformation of a space. She uses a combination of drawing and photography to create a feeling of history and time past within a space. By using these different elements as her inspiration, she presents a body of work filled with proliferating lines and shifting directions, which portray a sort of decomposing scene.

Stella Yoo has a BFA and MFA from Hong-Ik University’s College of Fine Arts and the Graduate School of Painting, and completed the course of Fine Arts Philosophy Doctor. Following her studies in Seoul, Korea, she came to New York where she received a MA in Communication Arts from NYIT. Stella has exhibited internationally in the Central Academy of the fine arts in Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, and New York. Her current grants include the first prize of painting in the 22nd Korea Grand Art Exhibition in 2003, the William Bradley Bettridge Memorial Scholarship in 2008 and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Swing Space Residency in 2009.
